EVA Foam Sheets, Cut to Your Size

Closed cell EVA foam sheet from 30 to 120 kg/m3, in a range of thicknesses and colours, cut to your dimensions at our Cape Town and Durban floors and delivered anywhere in South Africa.

What EVA foam is and why it wears well

EVA stands for Ethylene Vinyl Acetate. It is a closed cell foam, meaning every bubble is sealed, so the sheet does not soak up water and does not lose its properties when it gets wet.

Against the other common closed cell foam, PE, it is tougher. EVA takes repeated flexing, knocks and handling without splitting, and holds a cut edge more cleanly. That is why it ends up in mats, cases, padding and anything handled every day, while PE tends to go into packaging and void fill.

It also cuts, routs, laminates and heat forms well, which matters when the sheet has to become a shaped part rather than a flat piece.

Coloured closed cell EVA foam sheets in a range of densities and thicknesses

What we hold and how it is supplied

Density range30 to 120 kg/m3. Lower grades for light padding and craft work, 60 kg/m3 and up for matting, cases and anything taking load or traffic.
ThicknessThin sheet for linings and gaskets through to thick block for cushioning and routed inserts. Sheets can be laminated to reach thicknesses above stock.
ColoursA range of colours held in stock, useful where the foam is visible in the finished product or where grades need separating on the floor.
Cut to sizeSheets, strips, discs, profiles and routed inserts cut to your drawing, with adhesive backing applied where required.

What people make from it

Interlocking matsGym, play area and workshop matting where the foam takes traffic and repeated impact.
Case and tool insertsRouted inserts that hold tools and instruments in place, cut to the shape of the item.
Sports paddingProtective padding, guards and impact absorption for sports and training equipment.
Cosplay and craftSheet that cuts, glues and heat forms cleanly for armour, props and model making.
FlotationClosed cells do not take on water, so the foam keeps its buoyancy in service.
Gaskets and sealsCut strip and profiles for sealing, dust exclusion and vibration damping.

Choosing a grade

Under 45 kg/m3. Light padding, craft and cosplay, packaging liners, anything where the foam is not taking weight or repeated traffic. Easy to cut by hand and to heat form.

45 to 80 kg/m3. The general working range. Matting, case inserts, sports padding and protective linings. Firm enough to hold shape under load, soft enough to absorb impact.

80 to 120 kg/m3. Where the foam takes real load or constant traffic. Heavy duty matting, industrial flooring, structural padding and parts that must not compress permanently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is EVA foam waterproof?
EVA is closed cell, so every bubble is sealed and the sheet does not absorb water through its body. That makes it suitable for wet areas, outdoor use and flotation. Water can still sit on the surface or track through a cut edge that has been damaged, so seal edges where the part is submerged.
What thickness of EVA foam do I need?
It depends on what the foam has to absorb. Thin sheet suits linings, gaskets and light padding. Matting and impact protection usually start around 10mm and go up from there. Tell us the application and the load and we will specify both the thickness and the density.
What is the difference between EVA and PE foam?
Both are closed cell. EVA is tougher, more flexible and handles repeated flexing and knocks better, which suits mats, cases and padding. PE is lighter and more economical, which suits protective packaging and void fill. For the same density, EVA will usually outlast PE in a job involving handling.
Do you cut EVA foam sheets to size?
Yes. We convert sheets, strips, discs, profiles and routed inserts to your dimensions on our own floors in Cape Town and Durban, including laminating and adhesive backing where the job needs it. Send a drawing or the dimensions and we will quote.
